What to do if you have fractured a tooth
A fractured tooth may be a sign that there is decay within the tooth and this has weakened the tough outer surface. If you are experiencing pain, this may mean the decay is close to the nerve or the fractured portion of the tooth has exposed a sensitive area. Seeking assistance from our team will ensure the tooth is assessed promptly and treated with care to restore its normal function.

If you have toothache, what should you do?
Contact our clinic as soon as possible. Pain can indicate an underlying problem. With the correct assessment and investigation, we can identify the cause of the pain and recommend appropriate treatment.
If you have lost a crown or filling
We may be able to re-fix a crown or inlay if it has become dislodged from the tooth. If it cannot be restored, we can discuss replacing it with a new one. In suitable cases, a replacement can be made during the same appointment. You can read more here about our CEREC technology.
It is important to visit a dentist if you lose a crown, filling or inlay, as an unprotected tooth may develop sensitivity, pain or further damage.
If you have swelling next to your tooth
If you also have symptoms such as redness, swelling and pain, you should seek urgent dental advice. Swelling may be a sign that an infection is present. If left untreated, the swelling can become larger and the infection may spread, resulting in further pain and discomfort.
If swelling is making it difficult to breathe, swallow or speak, seek emergency medical assistance immediately.
